William KIRTLEY


Managing Partner

William Kirtley, the Managing Partner of Aceris Law, is an internationally recognised Franco-American Harvard-, Columbia-, and Sorbonne-educated arbitration lawyer with over two decades of experience. He specialises in international commercial arbitration, investor-State arbitration, and international construction arbitration. He has served as counsel or arbitrator in over 200 international arbitrations across five continents, including some of the largest in history.

Mr. Kirtley is a member of the New York Bar, the Washington, D.C. Bar, and is an inactive French Avocat à la Cour. In addition to his arbitration work, he has acted as a legal expert in public international law and participated in negotiations and mediations. His expertise has earned him top rankings from prestigious organisations such as Who’s Who Legal, Legal 500, and Leader’s League.

Before founding Aceris Law, Mr. Kirtley worked at leading firms such as Shearman & Sterling LLP and Salans (now Dentons) and was also a Peace Corps volunteer in the Ivory Coast. He has authored numerous academic articles on international arbitration and has taught at the University of Paris X and Paris II – Assas-Panthéon.
