Presentation

The event will start at 9:00 a.m., with a networking breakfast scheduled from 8:30 a.m.

This event will explore one of the most complex and practical challenges in international arbitration: enforcement against assets hidden behind corporate structures. Taking a comparative approach, the discussion will examine how different jurisdictions address attempts to lift or pierce the corporate veil for enforcement purposes.

Hosted by Alexandra Szekely (Le 16 Law), the panel will bring together experienced practitioners and academic insight to discuss how courts in various jurisdictions approach the issue in practice. It will feature Professor Jean-Sébastien Borghetti (Paris II Panthéon-Assas), a leading authority in the field, as well as Gene Burd (Pierson Ferdinand), Eraldo d’Atri (Humphries Kerstetter) and Alexandra Szekely, who will share extensive experience from enforcement proceedings respectively in the United States, the UK and France, offering a perspective grounded in complex asset recovery strategies.

By confronting theory with practice, the event aims to provide concrete insights for those seeking to enforce arbitral awards across complex corporate structures.
