Presentation

The panel will examine resource nationalism, particularly in Africa, exploring the tension between state control and investor rights.

Using a number of African jurisdictions like the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali and Tanzania mining sectors as examples, we'll discuss the political drivers behind this trend, the limits of sovereign action, and the role of international arbitration.

Practical strategies for lawyers advising clients in this space will be explored, including due diligence, contract negotiation, legal proceedings and the use of intelligence.
