Sign inOne step forward two steps back: Are recent policies undermining India’s bid to be a global arbitration hub?
Presentation
Join us for lunch followed by a panel discussion on how recent policy shifts in India (the May 2025 amendments to the Bar Council of India Rules on restrictions of foreign lawyers appearing in India even in international arbitrations, the June 2024 Office Memorandum barring PSU recourse to arbitrations for claims exceeding INR 100 million, etc.) align with India’s desire to be an arbitration hub. The panel will also discuss the proposed 2024 amendments to the Arbitration & Conciliation Act.
The panelists will share experiences from Singapore and London to examine their trajectories to becoming established arbitration hubs and examine how these factors shape user choice.
