Co-Africa Practice Leader for Litigation & Counsel, International Arbitration

Alexis Foucard is a New York and Paris-qualified arbitration specialist. To date, he has acted as counsel in more than 60 cases (ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, ad hoc) and as sole and presiding arbitrator in several ICC cases.

His experience encompasses a range of dispute types and business sectors, including energy, construction, aircrafts, telecommunications, and joint-ventures.

He is particularly recognized for his dispute resolution expertise in Africa and the Middle East, having worked on matters concerning 25 distinct African and Middle East jurisdictions, to date. He presently serves as Clifford Chance’s co-Africa Practice Leader for Litigation.

Alexis Foucard is individually recognized by Chambers & Partners as “Up and Coming” for Africa-Wide Dispute Resolution, and Lexology identifies him as a ‘Future Leader’ for international arbitration in France as a ‘Global Elite Thought Leader’ (“achieved by only around 5% of listed practitioners”). He has also been identified by Best Lawyers as “One to Watch” and by Benchmark Litigation for commercial arbitration.
