Presentation

This event will explore one of the most debated and evolving issues in international arbitration: the scope and extension of the arbitration agreement. Taking a comparative approach, the discussion will examine how arbitral tribunals and national courts across different jurisdictions address questions such as non-signatories, group of companies, assignment, and consent.

Hosted by Julie Spinelli and Gabriele Ruscalla, the debate will bring together leading perspectives from theory and practice. It will feature Prof. Bernard Hanotiau, the leading authority in the field, Maria Irene Perruccio (Webuild), ensuring a practical, user-oriented viewpoint, and Stella Leptourgou, offering the ICC institutional perspective.

By confronting doctrinal analysis, institutional practice, and judicial approaches, the event aims to foster a dynamic discussion on how far the arbitration agreement can - and should - be extended in contemporary international arbitration.
