Presentation

Organized by the Arbitration Channel, this event aims to address the ongoing discussions around a potential EU–Mercosur agreement, which could mark a new phase in trade relations between Europe and South America, reshaping how businesses structure cross-border contracts, manage regulatory risk, and resolve disputes. The event brings together perspectives from both sides of the Atlantic to explore, in practical terms, what may change for international dispute resolution if the agreement moves forward.

A particularly timely — and still under explored — angle is artificial intelligence. If AI products and services from Mercosur are required to meet European regulatory standards to access the EU market (and vice versa), new disputes may emerge around compliance, change in law, liability allocation, data governance, and intellectual property.

Bridging the Brazil-Europe corridor, the session offers a focused conversation on emerging risk scenarios and practical tools, contractual and procedural, to anticipate what’s next.
