Presentation
The 9th Lusophones Arbitration Meeting – Digital Assets, Real Disputes: Arbitration at the Edge of Crypto brings together leading Lusophone practitioners, academics, and market participants to examine how arbitration is responding to disputes arising from digital assets, blockchain structures, and crypto-related transactions.
As digital assets move from speculative instruments to elements embedded in corporate structures, financing, investment strategies, and commercial relationships, arbitration is increasingly called upon to address conflicts that combine cutting-edge technology with very real legal and economic consequences. This meeting will explore how traditional principles of commercial and investment arbitration are being tested, adapted, and, in some cases, redefined in the context of cryptoassets and decentralized environments.
The discussions will focus on jurisdictional challenges, evidentiary issues, enforcement of arbitral awards involving digital assets, and the role of arbitration in providing legal certainty in an evolving and often fragmented regulatory landscape. Particular attention will be given to cross-border disputes, investor protection, and the practical lessons emerging from recent cases.
Held in person and conducted in Portuguese, the event aims to foster a high-level exchange of ideas and practical insights, positioning arbitration as a credible and effective forum for resolving disputes at the frontier of digital innovation.
