CPR Institute (International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution)
About us
THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR CONFLICT PREVENTION & RESOLUTION (CPR)
Established in 1977, CPR is an independent nonprofit organization that promotes the prevention and resolution of conflict to better enable the pursuit of purpose through the CPR Institute and its subsidiary, CPR Dispute Resolution Services LLC.
The CPR Institute builds capacity for dispute prevention and resolution through the thought leadership of its diverse members – companies, leading mediators and arbitrators, law firms, individual practitioners, and academics – who share best practices and develop innovative tools for dispute management through committee discussions and projects, publications, education and training, and hosting events.
CPR Dispute Resolution Services is a responsive, user-focused provider of dispute management services – arbitration, mediation, custom appointing services, a panel of dispute prevention specialists, and more - that leverages resources generated by the CPR Institute. The case administrators are responsive, efficient, and detail oriented, and have extensive backgrounds in alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The Panel of Distinguished Neutrals is a carefully curated, diverse group of prominent, experienced subject matter and ADR professionals on over 30 specialty panels. And CPR Dispute Resolution’s Complete Case platform, a holistic end-to-end digital environment designed for ADR, handles matters efficiently and securely. CPR IN EUROPE
The CPR Institute's European presence dates from the early 1990s when a group of corporate and legal leaders from Europe was convened to form the CPR European Advisory Committee. Under the leadership of Hans Peter Frick, former General Counsel of Nestlé, the group organized the First European Congress on ADR in 2004, followed by four annual conferences around Europe. The European Advisory Committee worked on a number of other initiatives including building CPR’s Panel of Neutrals in Europe; advising the European Commission on its Directive on Mediation and its Code of Ethics for Mediators; and drafting the CPR Reinsurance Industry Protocol.
Today, CPR continues to serve as a leading independent resource in Europe helping businesses and their legal advisers, whether in-house or external counsel, prevent and resolve commercial disputes more efficiently and cost-effectively.
CPR carries out its mission in Europe with the help of its European Advisory Board (EAB), a body composed of CPR member representatives based throughout Europe who are invited to serve three-year terms on the EAB. Within the EAB, representatives from leading European companies and law firms work collaboratively together to provide strategic direction to CPR’s activities in the region. The EAB develops resources, shares knowledge and best practices, and networks with respect to dispute prevention and resolution. The EAB has produced resources including:
-The Corporate Early Case Assessment Toolkit for European Parties
-The European Mediation & ADR Guide
In addition to several meetings of the board per year, the EAB also organizes events for the public throughout Europe and is pleased to be a part of PAW2026!

YOUNG LEADERS IN ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION (Y-ADR)
The Y-ADR Steering Committee is a global group of young CPR members from in-house, law firms, and neutrals practices - who are selected through a competitive application process that opens only once per year and then serve on staggered three-year terms.
CPR's Y-ADR program educates the next generation of leaders on the full spectrum of dispute prevention and resolution mechanisms and offers unique networking and professional development benefits to participants. Through periodic seminars and other initiatives, participants are introduced to CPR and gain an insider’s view into how CPR’s community of corporate counsel, law firm counsel, and other experts in the field are using dispute prevention and resolution techniques to manage conflict to enable purpose.
Y-ADR is open to the conflict prevention and resolution community-- attorneys, professionals, academics and students -- 45 years old and younger, or those with less than 8 years of professional experience in international or domestic ADR practice or other areas of conflict prevention and resolution.
Y-ADR is at the heart of the CPR Institute’s mission to broaden the pool of practitioners in the ADR world and to create a global culture for dispute prevention and resolution. Y-ADR Europe members are pleased to be a part of PAW2026!
