International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID)
About us
The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) provides an independent, world-class forum that offers services, rules, and facilities for resolving disputes between foreign investors and States. ICSID administers cases under various procedures, including arbitration, conciliation and mediation, when agreed by the parties in a dispute arising from investment contracts, treaties, or laws.
ICSID was established in 1966 as part of the World Bank Group under the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (the ICSID Convention). The ICSID Convention is a multilateral treaty formulated by the Executive Directors of the World Bank to further the Bank’s objective of promoting international investment.
