About us

The Paris Bar is one of the largest bar associations in Europe, bringing together more than 34,000 lawyers out of nearly 74,000 practicing in France. With a rich history spanning several centuries, it is currently led by the Bâtonnier Louis Degos and the Vice-Bâtonnier Carine Denoit-Benteux, who represent Parisian lawyers in their relations with public authorities, institutions, and society at large.

Together with the Bar Council, composed of 42 elected lawyers, the Bâtonnier and Vice-Bâtonnier address key issues affecting the legal profession, including its organization, development, and modernization, as well as the proper administration of justice, the protection of fundamental rights, and access to law and justice for all.

As an institutional partner of Paris Arbitration Week 2026, the Paris Bar reaffirms its strong commitment to international arbitration as a vital mechanism for dispute resolution. Through this partnership, it supports the promotion of excellence, diversity, innovation, and sustainable practices in arbitration, while fostering dialogue between lawyers, arbitral institutions, and the global business community.
