About us

Salas y Asociados Abogados is a Colombian boutique law firm with more than 30 years of experience advising public and private clients on complex matters involving infrastructure, transport, maritime and port activities. The firm has a long-standing reputation in Colombia for technical rigor, institutional credibility, and an ability to operate at the intersection of public law, contracts, and highly regulated projects.

As of December 2025, Salas y Asociados Abogados has formally expanded its services to offer international arbitration and cross-border dispute resolution, responding to the growing demand from states, state-owned entities, and private actors involved in international projects and investments in Latin America.

This expansion is led by Guillermo Salcedo Salas, partner and head of the firm’s Dispute Resolution practice, who relocated his professional base to Colombia in December 2025 after more than a decade of practice in France, while regularly dividing his time between Bogota and Paris. He is admitted to practice law in Colombia and in Paris (voluntarily omitted), and has acted in more than 40 international arbitrations for states, state-owned entities and private parties under ICC, ICSID, CRCICA and UNCITRAL rules. His experience spans infrastructure, energy, transport and other public-law-related disputes. He is trilingual in English, Spanish and French, with the capacity to conduct written and oral advocacy in all three languages.

A key differentiator of the firm is its ability to integrate arbitration expertise with deep substantive knowledge of Latin American public law and regulated sectors, particularly infrastructure, concessions, ports and maritime activities. This allows the firm to address disputes not only as procedural or treaty-based controversies, but as matters embedded in complex contractual, regulatory and institutional environments.

The firm operates with lean, senior-driven teams, tailored to each mandate, and works seamlessly with international law firms, technical experts, engineers and economists where required. This flexible structure enables cost-efficient case management without compromising technical quality or strategic control.

Salas y Asociados Abogados is active in the international arbitration and dispute resolution community and regularly contributes to academic, professional and institutional discussions in Latin America and Europe. The firm’s presence at Paris Arbitration Week 2026 reflects its commitment to maintaining a strong professional bridge between Europe and Latin America, and to offering clients a practice that is both internationally connected and firmly grounded in local legal and institutional realities.

Through this expanded arbitration practice, Salas y Asociados Abogados positions itself as a trusted partner for complex disputes involving Latin America, combining international arbitration experience, public law sophistication and sector-specific expertise.

Paris Arbitration Week is truly international in spirit and in practice. It offers a unique opportunity to meet and network with arbitration practitioners from all over the world, while attending thought-leading conferences addressing arbitration issues across all continents, in a setting that fosters meaningful exchanges.
