About us
The Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Shanghai International Arbitration Center, "SHIAC"), established in 1988, is one of the venerable international arbitration institutions in China, having conducted international and domestic disputes for over three decades.
The vision of SHIAC is to promote Shanghai's opening up to the world and enhance its international influence by shaping the landscape of Chinese arbitration, making it more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of a rapidly changing world. Since its establishment, SHIAC has issued more than 40,000 arbitration awards, involving commercial entities from China and other 113 countries and regions.
SHIAC has an experienced international panel of over 1,463 expert arbitrators from more than 80 jurisdictions, including areas such as International Trade, Construction, Finance, and Investment. As an arbitrator appointing authority, SHIAC performs its role with high regard for the parties’ expectations regarding the integrity, diversity, and professionalism of the arbitrators.
SHIAC adheres to the strategy of internationalization and professionalism, and has consecutively established the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Court of Arbitration, the Shanghai International Aviation Court of Arbitration, the BRICS Dispute Resolution Shanghai Center, the China–Africa Joint Arbitration Shanghai Center, the Assets and Equity Exchange Arbitration Center, the Data Arbitration Centre, the Air Silk Road Investment and Trade Dispute Resolution Center, and the Cruise Transport Arbitration Center.
