Matheus Bastos OLIVEIRA

Matheus is a Senior Associate in the International Arbitration Group at Freshfields, based in Washington, DC. Before joining Freshfields, he practiced for five years in the dispute resolution group at Demarest Advogados in Rio de Janeiro. He is qualified to practice in Brazil and New York. Matheus has advised clients in insolvency and contractual disputes in the energy, mining, financial services, telecommunications, and food and agriculture sectors. He was recognized by Legal 500 as a Rising Star in insolvency in 2018, and by Chambers as an “Associate to Watch” in international arbitration in 2024 and 2025.
