Nazlı ARIKAN

Nazlı Kumbaraci Arıkan is a Partner and Head of Construction & Arbitration at ARIKAN PARTNERS.

She advises employers and contractors on complex, multi‑billion‑dollar infrastructure and industrial projects across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Turkey. She has extensive experience in construction contract drafting, contract management, claims preparation, and related disputes arising from major infrastructure, offshore, and building projects. She has represented her clients in international arbitration and dispute resolution proceedings conducted under ICC, UNCITRAL, SCC, ISTAC, and ITOTAM rules.

She has also served as arbitrator in arbitration proceedings conducted under ICC and ISTAC rules.

For over a decade, since 2014, Ms. Nazli Kumbaraci Arikan has been continuously ranked as a “Leading Individual” in the Turkey–EMEA Construction and Real Estate practice by Legal 500.

Ms. Arikan’s experience in international construction encompasses sophisticated international
construction projects in numerous countries including Romania, Libya, Russia, Nigeria, Abu Dhabi and Jordan. She also advised her clients on the preparation, negotiation and the implementation of the construction contracts for landmark infrastructure, commercial/ residential buildings and industrial projects located in Turkey. Her broad experience includes dispute resolution and contract consultancy of the projects based on FIDIC, AIA and JCT type forms/contracts, as well.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Arikan worked in the legal department of one of the Big Four audit firms and also in local law firms where she assisted her clients in the arbitration proceedings related to multi-million-dollar international projects. Ms. Arikan is admitted to Istanbul Bar Association and graduate of Galatasaray University, Faculty of Law (LL.B) and obtained her LL.M degree from University of Galatasaray with her academic thesis on Jurisdiction of the Arbitrators in International Arbitration. She is fluent in English and French.
