Owen LAWRENCE

CEO
Arbitra International

Owen Lawrence is the founder and Chief Executive of Arbitra International, a global roster of independent arbitrators and mediators, comprising many of the world’s leading neutrals across a broad range of sectors and jurisdictions.

He is a specialist in managing the transition of senior arbitration practitioners from law firms and chambers into successful independent practice. Owen leads a dedicated team of managing directors who provide arbitrators with the full operational, commercial, and strategic infrastructure required to operate independently at the highest level, without conflicts and without sacrificing quality or scale.

Owen has worked for over 20 years in the international arbitration sector, collaborating closely with leading law firms, arbitrators, mediators, barristers, and arbitral institutions worldwide. He previously managed the international arbitration departments at two of London’s leading commercial sets of barristers’ chambers, supporting practitioners throughout the full arc of their careers - from first appointments through to established, global practices and eventual succession planning.

He is exceptionally experienced in career transitions, particularly advising lawyers moving from combined advocacy and arbitral roles into arbitrator-only practices.

Owen has a strong track record in career management and regularly comments in industry publications, as well as speaking at conferences and webinars for leading law firms and arbitral institutions.

Outside Arbitra, Owen serves on the Africa Board of Save the Children and is a keen cyclist (INCLUDING CYCLING TO PAW FROM LONDON) and rugby fan, particularly rugby league.
