Tomas Vail is the Founder and Principal of Vail Dispute Resolution, an independent international arbitration practice based in London. He acts as counsel and arbitrator in complex international commercial and investment treaty disputes, with particular experience in the energy, infrastructure and natural resources sectors.

Tomas has over fifteen years of experience in arbitrations under the ICC, LCIA, SCC, UNCITRAL and ICSID Rules, including disputes involving States and State-owned entities across Europe, Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, the CIS and Central Asia. His work spans high-value joint venture, production sharing agreement, long-term supply and post-M&A disputes, as well as investment treaty claims arising out of regulatory and fiscal measures affecting energy and infrastructure projects.

He maintains an active arbitrator practice and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Before founding Vail Dispute Resolution, Tomas was part of the international arbitration teams at Freshfields and White & Case in London. He is recognised by Chambers, Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal for international arbitration. Tomas is qualified in New York and England & Wales and is fluent in English, French and Russian.
