Mr. Mu’s core practice focuses on dispute resolution. He has extensive experience in handling complex commercial disputes and is widely regarded as one of the most active PRC lawyers in the cross-border dispute resolution area.

As counsel, Mr. Mu has acted in numerous high-profile domestic and international commercial matters. He is among the very few PRC lawyers who have been consistently recommended by Chambers and Partners in both Litigation and Arbitration. Matters in which he has acted have been selected as Supreme People’s Court Guiding Cases, providing guidance to courts at all levels in comparable disputes, and his experience in commercial arbitration is likewise broadly recognised by the market.

In recent years, Mr. Mu has acted as an expert witness on PRC law in dozens of overseas litigation and arbitration proceedings, providing legal opinions to courts and arbitral tribunals in jurisdictions including the United States, the United Kingdom, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong on issues of PRC company law, contract law and arbitration law. He is able to work effectively in English throughout the process, including the preparation of written reports, depositions and cross-examinations.

Mr. Mu has been appointed as an arbitrator by the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC), the Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC), and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA). He is an expert of the first cohort of the Shanghai International Arbitration Expert Database and one of the first batch of neutral experts for the APEC Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) mechanism. Mr. Mu has also been invited by internationally recognized media outlets, including China Business Law Journal and China Law & Practice, to comment on commercial arbitration, and his commentary has been widely noted and cited in the field.

Mr. Mu was recognised as one of the “Shanghai Top 10 Outstanding Young Lawyers” from 2011 to 2013. Since 2014, he has been recommended by Chambers every year, and he has also been recognized by The Legal 500 and Benchmark Litigation. In 2021, he was listed in LEGALBAND’s “Top 15 Litigators”. In 2022, he was named one of “ALB China Top 15 Litigators”. In 2023, he was selected for China Business Law Journal’s “The A-List: China’s Elite Lawyers (2023)”.
