For its 8th edition, from 18 to 22 March 2024, Paris Arbitration Week (PAW) once again brought together the international arbitration community.

This year, PAW relied on the support of 189 partners, among which 104 paying partners composed of law firms, experts and third-party funders. The 85 non-paying partners included public organisations, arbitral institutions, associations and universities.

This 8th edition of PAW was highly innovative, with a number of important novelties.

First of all, PAW had the privilege of being granted the high patronage of the Ministry of Justice and, of adding the Cour d’Appel de Paris as a partner, highlighting the unity between arbitration practitioners and national jurisdictions and reinforcing Paris as a key hub for arbitration and law. Eric Dupond-Moretti, French Ministry of Justice, similarly pointed out during his speech this shared desire for cooperation between various players in the international arbitration community.

To kick-off the week, the PAW board also invited Florence Gravellier, a former paralympic athlete, to discuss diversity and inclusion, the pillars of PAW. Her speech has certainly left a lasting impression on all listeners.

Finally, the PAW Board introduced a number of new and exciting events:

  • An event dedicated to sustainability – one of PAW’s historical pillars;
  • An event dedicated to in-house counsel;
  • The #PAWGames to spotlight the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris this summer.

This 8th edition showcased Paris, one of the world’s leading legal hubs, at its best, with emblematic venues hosting  various events:  the salons de l’Hôtel de Ville de Paris for the opening cocktail and the event dedicated to sustainability, the Tribunal de Commerce de Paris for the conference dedicated to in-house lawyers, the International Chamber of the Cour d’Appel de Paris for the conference on the autonomy of arbitration, the Maison de l’Amérique Latine, the Parc des Princes, the Automobile Club de France, the Meurice, the Westin and the Shangri-la hotels, the Hôtel du Louvre, the Hôtel du Collectionneur, the Nouveau Casino for the Law Rocks concert and the Jardin des Tuileries for the PAW Games.

The PAW Board is delighted to announce that the 9th edition of PAW will be held from 7 to 11 April 2025.

PARIS ARBITRATION WEEK is an annual event that takes place over a week in Paris, a major hub for international arbitration. Created in 2017, Paris Arbitration Week has fast become a key event for arbitration practitioners from around the globe.

Its objective is to bring together practitioners from all over the world to discuss issues and developments in the field, whether they concern investment or commercial arbitration, the impact of national legislation or international trade agreements on arbitration, and the evolution of practices in international arbitration.  This week is also an opportunity to create a series of informal opportunities to meet and exchange during the various cocktails and evening gatherings.
