Albertas ŠEKšTELO
Albertas Šekštelo is an experienced litigator and arbitrator focused on international arbitration and cross-border issues.
Albertas specializes in dispute resolution, especially involving national and international commercial and investment arbitration. Albertas is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). Albertas has handled or participated in over thirty arbitrations convened under ICC, SCC, VKAT, PCA, LCIA, UNCITRAL (ad hoc arbitration), GAFTA, MKAC, BelCCI, or VIAC rules, including representing the Republic of Lithuania in a dispute with the Government of the Kaliningrad Region, as well as in the Gazprom cases heard both in the Court of Justice of the European Union and in PCA, ICC, and SCC arbitration courts.
Albertas also often sits as a solo, presiding, or co-arbitrator in domestic and ad hoc arbitrations.
Albertas also works on complex domestic and cross-border litigation cases.
Chambers and Partners Europe ranked him in Band 4 in dispute resolution. As Chambers and Partners state, he is instructed to assist clients with both litigation and arbitration mandates. “He is a very efficient negotiator,” a client says. Another adds: “He’s able to meet very demanding deadlines at the same time as keeping a deep approach to the matter.”
He regularly speaks at conferences in Lithuania and abroad and contributes articles on arbitration and civil procedure issues to various publications.
Albertas is an associate professor of practice, at the law faculty at Vilnius University, dealing with business transactions, civil law, and the law of civil procedure.
He has been a practicing attorney since 2009, and before joining Motieka & Audzevičius in 2018, he was an Associate at Nordia Baublys & Partners and an Associated Partner at TGS Baltic.
