Alexandra GONÇALVES
Alexandra do Nascimento Gonçalves is a partner at Manuel Gonçalves & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, RL (MG ADVOGADOS) in Luanda, Angola. She holds an LLB from Lisbon University (Clássica) and an L.L.M. in Corporate & Commercial Law from Queen Mary, University of London. Alexandra worked as a lawyer in Lisbon, London, Geneva and Frankfurt, and is currently living and working in Luanda, Angola.
Alexandra acts mainly in Corporate, Financial and Banking Law, Public and Private Investment (including concessions and privatizations) and Arbitration.
She is the Executive Coordinator of the Luanda International Arbitration Conference, since its first edition, in 2012, and a Member of the Executive Commission of the Arbitral Moot of Luanda, which are widely recognized as the most relevant events in Angola dedicated to promoting and raising awareness on the advantages of Arbitration.
In 2022, Alexandra was considered one of the Africa’s 30 most promising Arbitration practitioners, by the Africa Arbitration Academy (AAA), with the Association of Young Arbitrators (AYA) and Africa Arbitration.
Currently, Alexandra is co-chair of the Africa Arbitration Group of the IBA Arbitration Committee, for the 2023-2024 mandate.
She has been advocating for Arbitration next to relevant stakeholders for more than 11 years, and took as a personal goal the promotion of arbitration in Angola and in the lusophone Africa.
