Andrew TETLEY
I am a partner in the Paris office of Reed Smith, where I have been based for approaching 20 years now.
I am a registered UK/French/New Zealand (non-practising) and Australian legal practitioner (non-practising).
I undertake commercial litigation before English and French courts and in international arbitration. My background as a formerly practising New Zealand barrister and a currently practising French avocat and English solicitor (with advocacy rights in the UK) allows me to offer a unique blend of experience in Paris.
I have spent almost equal time practising in France before French courts (a civil law system) as I have spent time before the courts in the UK/New Zealand/Australia (common law systems), combined with arbitral work throughout all that time. This gives me special insight into how to handle cross border legal issues and disputes brought before all types of tribunal.
My arbitration practice covers a wide range of commercial disputes, with particular expertise in assisting international trade and shipping shipping clients, but also in construction and energy disputes. I have been involved in arbitrations under many institutions rules - ICC, LCIA, LMAA, GAFTA, RSA, CAMP, UNCITRAL, CMAC and ad hoc.
I was New Zealand member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration between 2015-2021, with general supervisory responsibility over ICC arbitrations during that time. I have been a Member of the ICC Commission for over 10 years.
