Chrispas NYOMBI
Chrispas Nyombi has an LL.M from University College London and a PhD from the University of Essex. Prior to joining the University of Derby, he worked at Canterbury Christchurch University (Associate Professor in International Commercial law 2016- 2021) and the University of Bedfordshire (Senior Lecturer 2014-2016). He is a Visiting Professor of Law at Makerere University, Uganda and the University of Juba, South Sudan. He has held a number of senior/strategic leadership positions in UK Higher Education and authored (and co-authored) a number of publications (books and journal papers). He has supervised 9 PhD Law students and over 200 postgraduate law masters dissertations to successful completion in area, inter alia, corporate governance, corporate rescue, mergers and acquisitions, regional integration and harmonization, money laundering, international trade law, international investment law and international commercial litigation. Chrispas regularly speaks at national and international conferences (over 30 countries around the world) concerning all aspects of International Commercial Law. Some of these engagements have included addressing audiences such as the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). Since 2011, he has worked with the Ugandan government on a number of policy initiatives including the Companies Act 2012, the Investment Code Act 2019 and the recently enacted Human Organ Donation and Transplant Act 2022. He has represented Uganda at EAC Level during the Investment Policy 2019-2024 negotiations and currently in the AfCFTA negotiations.
