David THOMAS
David Thomas KC is a specialist construction, infrastructure and energy barrister at Keating Chambers. David is known for his forceful advocacy, incisive cross-examination skills, commercial awareness and the clarity and practicality of his advice. His recent international arbitrations have mainly involved the FIDIC forms and have related to oil and gas projects in Bahrain and Oman, solar power projects in Abu Dhabi and Qatar, a South African power station and an Indian railway. He recently won a final appeal to the Privy Council from Trinidad and Tobago on a FIDIC contract.
David was counsel in Costain v Bechtel, one of the few reported cases on the NEC form. He was the Editor of “Keating on NEC3” and “Keating on NEC” and writes the commentary on the NEC form in “Keating on Construction Contracts”. He regularly advises on NEC contract disputes and has conducted numerous adjudications and mediations in relation to the engineering and construction contract, the professional services contract, the term services contract and various amended versions thereof. He has lectured internationally on the NEC and FIDIC forms
