Harout EKMANIAN
Harout Ekmanian focuses his practice on advising and representing sovereign States in high-stakes international disputes and matters of public international law. Dual trained in the common law and civil law traditions, Harout also practices both investment and commercial arbitration before most major arbitral institutions.
Harout has extensive experience in a wide array of topics of public international law including international human rights law, international humanitarian law, international criminal law, and international economic law. He also counseled parties from across the world in matters related to a diverse range of industries such as energy, mining, construction, technology, waste management, telecommunications, and supply chain.
Harout is a graduate of Harvard Law School and speaks six languages covering more than half the member States of the United Nations and other territories. He previously served as an Advisor to the Permanent Mission of a UN member State to the United Nations in New York. Prior to joining Foley Hoag, Harout held various academic positions. He was a Research Associate with the Harvard Law School Program on International Law and Armed Conflict, a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for the Study of Human Rights of Columbia University, and O'Donnell Global Studies Visiting Educator at Whitman College.
