Jose Antonio GARCIA

Dr. García is a highly skilled expert in economic and financial analysis, with extensive knowledge and experience in valuing businesses across a range of industries, from energy to banking to telecoms.

He serves as a Principal at The Brattle Group, where he heads the firm's Madrid office. In his role, Dr. García offers expert witness testimony in litigation matters, primarily focusing on damage estimation in sectors such as energy, banking, insurance, and telecommunications. He has also provided guidance on regulatory issues, restructuring policies, and competition matters in the United States, Latin America, and Europe.

Dr. García's expert testimony is utilized in national courts as well as in international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations. His work includes addressing contractual disputes between shareholders, commercial transaction disputes, restructuring processes and claims between investors and sovereign states under the Energy Charter Treaty. His testimonies have dealt with government actions and their financial impacts on investors. He has worked on disputes involving the governments of countries such as Spain, the US, Cuba, Panama, Turkey, Portugal, Peru, Argentina, Guatemala, and Mexico, among others.

In addition to his consulting work, Dr. García was a visiting researcher at Boston University and has taught courses on finance, competition, and regulatory economics at several institutions, including Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Aarhus University in Denmark, Universidad de Salamanca, Universidad Pontificia de Comillas-ICAI, and Instituto de Empresa in Madrid. He holds both an MSc and a Ph.D. in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
