Marie BERARD

Marie Berard is a Partner at Clifford Chance LLP based in London. Dual trained in English and French law, she has acted for over 20 years as counsel for multinational corporations, governments, and individuals on a wide range of international arbitration proceedings pursuant to the major institutional rules and ad-hoc arbitrations. Her work spans many economic sectors, with particular emphasis on the energy, oil & gas, construction and finance sectors.

Marie also sits as a sole arbitrator, panel member and chair.

She is a member of the LCIA Court, the Vice-President of the LCIA European Users' Council and a member of the City of London Law Society Arbitration Committee. Until recently, Marie was a member of the ICC UK Arbitration and ADR Committee, and the ICC UK Selection Subcommittee.

Marie speaks regularly on international arbitration at conferences, seminars and delivers guest lectures at Universities. She has published a number of articles in the field of international arbitration and litigation. She is on the Editorial Board of the International Arbitration Law Review and Kluwer’s Journal of International Arbitration. She contributes to the UK arbitration updates circulated by International Law Office, and to arbitration-related practice notes from LexisPSLArbitration and PLC.

She is recognised as a Thought Leader by Who’s Who Legal Arbitration and is ranked in Chambers and Legal 500.
