Mathieu MAISONNEUVE
Mathieu Maisonneuve is professor of public law at Aix Marseille University. Previously, he was professor at the La Réunion University and Saint Joseph University (Lebanon), and visiting professor at Tulane University (USA) and at the Research Chair on Anti-Doping in Sport at the University of Sherbrooke (Canada).
Mathieu’s research mainly focuses on sports law. He has authored numerous scientific publications on this topic, in particular on sports arbitration (his PhD thesis was on “The arbitration of sports-related disputes”). He is Chairman of both the Disciplinary Commission of the French National Basketball League (LNB) and the General Appeal Body of the French Swimming Federation (FFN). He also acts as an arbitrator and a conciliator in sports-related cases brought before the French National and Olympic Sports Committee (CNOSF), and as an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) based in Lausanne (Switzerland).
In addition, Mathieu is a member of the Expert Committee on Trans-Identity in Top-Level Sport, that was set up by the French Ministry of Sports in November 2023.
