Miriam HARWOOD
Miriam Harwood is co-head of the firm’s Investment Arbitration Practice and partner in the world-renowned International Dispute Resolution Practice. Her work in international arbitration includes commercial disputes and investment treaty claims, and she has represented a broad array of states, governmental agencies and private entities in a wide range of cases.
Miriam has handled arbitrations at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the International Court of Arbitration (ICC), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) and under the rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade and Law (UNCITRAL).
In addition to international arbitration, Miriam has practiced commercial litigation in U.S. courts, including contract disputes, bankruptcy, intellectual property, enforcement of arbitral awards, and matters involving international law and sovereign immunity.
Chambers USA 2020 ranks Miriam as a leading practitioner for International Arbitration in its prestigious rankings of the world’s most elite counsel in the field. She has also been recognized for her work by Who’s Who Legal, Global Arbitration Review, The Legal 500 USA and The Legal 500 Latin America. She was named in the Top 100 Female Lawyers for Latin America by Latinvex from 2016 to 2019, and recognized by the New York Law Journal as one of its 2020 Distinguished Leaders.
