Prof. Christian TAMS
Christian J. Tams is Professor of International Law at the Universities of Glasgow and Paris 1 (Panthéon Sorbonne) and an academic member of 11 King‘s Bench Walk, London.
Christian’s research focuses on the settlement of international disputes, State responsibility and investment protection. Key publications include The Statute of the International Court of Justice: A Commentary (3rd edn., OUP), a leading reference work on the World Court, and International Investment Law and General International Law: Radiating Effects? (Elgar). In addition to his academic work, Christian regularly advises States and other actors in international disputes. In recent years, he has acted in proceedings before the International Court of Justice, the Iran-US Claims Tribunal and arbitral tribunals, and provided expert advice in domestic proceedings bearing on international law. Christian currently serves as Vice-President of the European Society of International Law and sits on the appointment committee of the German Court of Arbitration for Sport. He is a member of the editorial board of the European Journal of International Law and of the scientific advisory council of the German Foreign Ministry.
