Evolving Perspectives on the Right to Regulate: Shaping Investment Treaty Arbitration
Presentation
Addleshaw Goddard is delighted to invite you to our event during the 2024 Paris Arbitration Week, where we will host a cutting-edge discussion on the thorny issue of the right to regulate in investment treaty arbitration. This event will examine the current state of play as well as the potential future, in light of the ongoing concerns surrounding the legitimacy of Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), actual inter-state negotiations for reforms, and the increasing influence of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors as well as technological advancements.
Curated by our International Arbitration partners and ISDS specialists, Dr. Felix Dörfelt, Dr. Markus Perkams and Dr. Ioana Knoll-Tudor, this event will provide a comprehensive presentation that combines international legal theory, in-depth case law analysis, and practical insights from participants within the system.
We will bring together key stakeholders, including investors, states, and organizations leading discussions on reform and modernization, to address the current situation of the right to regulate and its interaction with ISDS. This will encompass the uncertainty surrounding traditional investment treaties, recent reform efforts such as the negotiations within UNCITRAL’s Working Group III as well as first experiences with the new approaches already included in the modern generation of investment treaties, including the potential relevance of a multilateral investment court.
Make sure to register in time and secure your place, so you can be part of the conversation and receive first-hand insights from our leading experts and representatives of essential stakeholders. Places are limited so you won’t want to miss out on this event!
