Presentation

For decades, international arbitration has been an important feature of the so-called rules-based international order, designed to promote legal certainty and stability, growth and development. This order is now under considerable strain, called into question by domestic political forces around the world and geopolitical dynamics.

This event will explore what the redrawing of the international order means for international arbitration, and how it should adapt. Does it call into question the very architecture and premise of international arbitration? And does international arbitration actually deliver on its promise of upholding the rule of law? Is the fairness and integrity of the arbitration system succumbing to the trend of polarization and politicization, and is the conduct of its participants to blame?

This event will be followed by light refreshments and networking.
