Rayan KOUATLY

Rayan is the managing partner of Kouatly & Associates in Beirut and focuses his practice in Lebanon on arbitration matters, Energy law, mergers and acquisitions.

He has advised the Lebanese Parliamentarian Committee for Energy on the drafting of oil and gas laws, the impact of the new laws on the existing regulatory framework and maritime delimitation. His team comprises specialized energy lawyers in Lebanon's. He's the Vice President of the Beirut Bar Association Committee on Oil and Gas.

The expertise of Kouatly & Associates - Attorneys covers Oil and Gas Law, Corporate Law, Arbitration, Banking Law, Maritime and Aviation Law, Real Estate and Construction Law, Intellectual Property and Franchising.

Rayan has an extensive experience in real estate and construction contracts. He recently closed a 150 million dollars deal for a pool of international investors.

He was a member of the Task Force that undertook the revision of the ICC rules of Arbitration. He is a Lecturer at ESA (École Supérieure des Affaires- Beirut) on International Commercial Arbitration and has been a speaker at several regional symposia on different Legal issues especially on the Oil and Gas sector in Lebanon. He is often appointed as a member or chair of many arbitration panels in international and regional arbitrations.

He is or served as a Board Member of different regional organizations such as: the Lebanese Chapter at the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA); The Arab Center for Arbitration & Mediation in Intellectual Property – Jordan; the Licencing Executive Societies in the Arab countries (LES) – Jordan; The Lebanese Intellectual Property Association (LIPA)- Lebanon. Currently he chairs the Arab Legal Forum, a legal think tank based in Beirut.

Rayan has an LLB and a DEA (Diplome D'Études Approfondies) in Public and Private International Law from Nice Sophia-Antipolis University with emphasis on international contracts and international commercial arbitration.
