Clément FOUCHARD

Clément specialises in international commercial and investment arbitration.

Clément has 16 years’ experience advising on major litigation and arbitration proceedings.

Clément has regularly acted for French and international clients in arbitrations seated across the globe and has particular experience in complex disputes in the construction, energy and infrastructure, mining, defence and distribution sectors, as well as considerable experience with joint ventures and post-acquisition disputes.

In addition to his experience as counsel, Clément acts as an arbitrator in domestic and international arbitrations (ICC).

Clément is a co-founder of Paris Arbitration Week (PAW) and a member of PAW Board and treasurer between 2019 and 2022. He is a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Centre de Médiation et d’Arbitrage de Paris (CMAP), a board member and treasurer of the Comité Français de l’Arbitrage (CFA), and a founding member of AfricArb (an association which promotes arbitration in Africa). He is the former co-chair of the CFA-40; the ICC YAF representative for France, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Clément lectures on international arbitration at Science Po Law School (LL.M. in Transnational Arbitration and Dispute Settlement), and at Paris II Panthéon-Assas University (LL.M. AWArDS ‒ Assas World Arbitration and Disputes Settlement). He regularly publishes articles in law journals (including the Revue de l’arbitrage) and speaks at international conferences on matters of arbitration law. He authored the treatise Le droit français de l’arbitrage (alongside Matthieu de Boisséson et Jessica Madesclair) (Lextenso, Paris, 2023).
