Christophe SERGEANT

Head Advisor for Industrial Projects /Référent Projets Industriels - EDF Legal Division

A seasoned legal specialist in energy asset development at Electricité de France (EDF), a leading global energy company with a strong focus on low-carbon electricity generation and the energy transition.

My practice has focused mainly on project financing, investment, construction, operation and maintenance issues across various high-value and complex international energy projects worldwide (including LNG terminal, hydropower, nuclear, waste-to-energy, nuclear and conventional power projects, battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, and combined conventional and renewable power generation projects (solar CSP/CCGT, BESS/CCGT) as well as power transmission infrastructure projects) and major technical services contracts,

This practice has taken a vertically integrated approach to the life of such projects advising from the earliest, pre-design concept phase to the full development, financing, construction, operation and successful disposition of asset.

After more than 15 years in management role of cross culture legal teams and several long-term assignments in Asia, I have recently taken a new exciting position as Head Advisor for Industrial Projects within the Legal Division of EDF, with the objectives to improve the sharing of experience and best legal and project practices within the EDF Group, focussing on decarbonised projects in operation or in development.

Currently based in Paris, I lecture for both LLM in International Construction Contracts, delivered by the University of Panthéon-Assas (France’s first law university) from its Paris campus and its Singapore campus, and had been a lecturer for the postgraduate MBE programme “International Construction: Practice and Law” at the University of Stuttgart in Germany.
