Dan PRESTON

Dan heads the Construction and Projects team at Fieldfisher.

He has over 15 years' experience advising some of the UK's largest suppliers and purchasers on contentious and non-contentious matters on construction, engineering and facilities management projects. He specialises in acting for main contractors and employers on domestic and international disputes and projects across the full range of standard form and bespoke contracts, with extensive experience of adjudication on a range of disputes from defects claims, payment notices and final account disputes to the performance of renewable energy plants.

He is also experienced in leading high-value litigation in the Technology and Construction Court, arbitration and all forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution and am an advocate of structured mediation to resolve complex construction disputes.

His non-contentious experience includes particular specialism in some of the UK's highest-value and most complex infrastructure projects with recent transactional experience including advising on the construction aspects on nuclear power plants and some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects including Crossrail, HS2, IFA2 and acting for the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) initiative at Sellafield.

Dan is consistently commended for his expertise in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners where he is described as "a top-drawer practitioner who 'will go above and beyond what is expected' as well as 'approachable, professional and absolutely reliable'." He was named in the Lawyer's Hot 100 for 2023 with the publication referring to Dan as "the King of Construction".
