Daniel AVILA

Daniel is an associate at Reed Smith, practicing in the areas of international arbitration, complex commercial litigation, and transnational investment law.

As part of the firm’s Latin American Business Team, Daniel assists clients on dispute resolution matters across the region in both English and Spanish. Daniel has assisted clients in disputes across several industries, including renewable energy, oil and gas, commodities, banking, transnational investments, M&A, defamation, partnership, and construction projects both domestically and in foreign countries.

Daniel has extensive experience in international arbitration, handling disputes under various international arbitral institutions and rules, including under ICSID, ICC, Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá, ICDR, LCIA, UNCITRAL, and AAA Rules.

Prior to joining the firm, Daniel gained valuable experience working for law firms in Latin American countries. As the Global Associate Chair of the firm’s Hispanic/Latino Business Inclusion Group, UNIDOS, Daniel dedicates time to community and pro bono initiatives for Spanish-speaking indigents in Texas.

Daniel currently heads pro bono for the Houston office and is the vice chair/chair-elect for the International Law Section of the Houston Bar Association.
