Louis DEGOS
Louis Degos is the Managing Partner of K&L Gates France, where he leads the International Litigation and Arbitration practice.
Louis Degos acts as counsel or arbitrator (serving as Chair of the Arbitral Tribunal, Co-Arbitrator, or Sole Arbitrator) in arbitration proceedings, both ad hoc and under various arbitration rules (ICC, LCIA, CMAP, AFA, UNCITRAL, Swiss Rules of International Arbitration, etc.). He also advises on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedures.
Louis Degos holds a national specialization certificate in arbitration law and is accredited by the Centre National de Médiation des Avocats to practice as a mediator. He teaches arbitration and alternative dispute resolution methods (e.g., HEC Paris, École Nationale de la Magistrature, etc.) and regularly contributes to legal professional seminars.
Co-author of the Code du numérique published by Lexis Nexis, he has a particular interest in the evolution of legal practice with the rise of AI and actively participates in discussions within the legal profession on these topics. During his six-year term at the French National Council of Bar Associations, he served as Chair of the Prospective and Innovation Commission and founded and directed the review Revue Pratique de la Prospective et de l'Innovation.
Louis Degos was a member of the Paris Bar Council (2012-2014) and served two terms on the French National Council of Bar Associations (2015-2017 and 2018-2020). More recently, he represented the French Bar as a member of the French Delegation to the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) from 2021 to 2023.
Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Comité Français de l'Arbitrage and is a member of several other institutions, including the Association Française d’Arbitrage, the Swiss Arbitration Association, and Paris Place d'Arbitrage.
Recognized by his peers, Louis Degos was awarded the title of Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite in 2019. In 2024, he is elected to serve as the President (Bâtonnier) of the Paris Bar Association for the years 2026 and 2027.
