Melissa ORDONEZ
As partner in Hogan Lovell's international arbitration team, Melissa Ordonez focuses her practice on both commercial and investment arbitration.
Melissa is a leading practitioner, recognized as a "Future Leader" (Who's Who Legal 2023) and a "Rising Star" in commercial arbitration (Rising Stars Expert Guide 2022).
Melissa is French-Colombian and has lived in several countries, including Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Her unique multicultural experience allows her to work on complex arbitrations in different regions of the world. She is known for her strategic skills and brings extensive experience in arbitration under ICC, LCIA, ICSID and UNCITRAL rules, acting for companies in various sectors and on behalf of States.
Melissa has particular expertise in representing clients in the energy, technology and luxury sectors, as well as in investment arbitration. She also chairs the French-LATAM Desk of the Paris office, with extensive experience in international arbitration in the region.
Melissa is a graduate of the Sorbonne University in Paris and Kings College London. She is fluent in English, French and Spanish and regularly publishes on current arbitration issues.
She regularly publishes on ESG and climate change issues, for example she has recently authored ‘Climate change in international arbitration, the next big thing?’, published in the Journal of Energy and Natural Resources Law, and ‘ESG and Mining: Influence on Investment Protection and Disputes’, published in The Legal Industry Review.
