Peter ROSHER

Global Chair of International Arbitration

Global Chair of Reed Smith's international arbitration practice Peter Rosher is one of the most highly-regarded international arbitration lawyers in the Paris market. He is a dual-qualified (English solicitor/French avocat) lawyer and advocate with nearly 30 years’ experience in international arbitration, advising clients on contentious issues as well as providing extensive advisory services in relation to “live” major projects.
Described by clients as a “very client-oriented lawyer who gets the job done” and “an excellent tactician with a sharp legal mind,” he is also quoted as being “responsive, trusted and incisive.”

Peter has particular experience in international commercial and investment arbitration and dispute resolution, with specific knowledge in international engineering, construction, energy and infrastructure, as well as considerable experience of telecommunications, satellite manufacturing industries and general commercial disputes.

He has handled arbitration cases both on an ad hoc basis (including UNCITRAL) and under the rules of international arbitration institutions (ICC, LCIA, SCC, SIAC, ICSID) in many jurisdictions across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Peter is an experienced advocate, having appeared before numerous international arbitral tribunals. He also frequently sits as arbitrator.

Peter also provides strategic project advice and acts as project counsel, assisting clients to monitor, manage and minimize risk on claims and disputes.

A leading figure in the Paris international arbitration community, Peter is a founding member of Paris Arbitration Week, a flagship event in the global international arbitration calendar. He is currently Vice Chair of Paris Arbitration Week’s Organizing Committee.

Peter is also a member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and sits on the board of the Association Française d’Arbitrage. He also acts as Vice President of the association Paris, Home of International Arbitration and is a member of the editorial boards of the Association Française du Contract Management and the Revue Droit des Affaires Internationales. Peter was also appointed to the board of the French arm of the Society of Construction Lawyers.

Peter regularly publishes thought leadership pieces and speaks at international arbitration and construction conferences. He has co-chaired Global Arbitration Review’s GAR Live Construction event annually since 2018. He also lectures on the topics of dispute resolution and international construction contracts at Université Panthéon Assas (Paris II) and at Sciences Po.
