Sergey ALEKHIN


Counsel

Counsel, Sergey Alekhin was promoted to Counsel in January 2021. His practice focuses on international commercial and investment arbitration.
Sergey has acted in arbitration proceedings worldwide under the aegis of the main arbitration institutions (ICC, ICSID, LCIA), as well as ad hoc proceedings (UNCITRAL).
He also regularly acts as sole and co-arbitrator in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations, often with a Russian element.

Sergey has also been listed as “Arbitration Future Leader” by Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2023 rankings.
He is also designated by the Kyrgyz Republic to the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the foremost global institution for the resolution of international investment disputes.

Prior to joining Willkie, Sergey worked for six years in a boutique arbitration law firm in Paris.
He is member of the Paris Bar and is registered to practice law in Russia.

In 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022, Sergey was among the ‘Top 10 Young Arbitration Practitioners’ ranked by the RAA40, the Russian Arbitration Association’s under 40 division.

Sergey frequently publishes and speaks on international arbitration and relates issues, including cybersecurity, blockchain technology and e-sports. He formerly served as Co-Chairman of the Young Institute of Modern Arbitration (Young IMA, Russia).
He is admitted to the Paris Bar and Voronezh (Russia) Bar.
