Yuri MANTILLA


Senior Associate

Yuri Mantilla is a senior associate at the international arbitration group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Paris.

Yuri has extensive experience representing governments and private parties in complex disputes across the globe. He has served as counsel and assisted arbitral tribunals in proceedings under the ICC, ICSID, ICSID additional facility, UNCITRAL, CAM Santiago, and CRCICA arbitration rules that involved construction, energy, infrastructure, natural resources, satellites, and life science projects worldwide, including in Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. He is also experienced in State-to-State disputes, having acted in dispute settlement proceedings before the World Trade Organization and defended Chile in the International Court of Justice against Bolivia’s historical claim concerning an alleged obligation to negotiate sovereign access to the Pacific Ocean for Bolivia.

With a background in finance, including an MBA in Advanced Finance, Yuri developed a strong interest in the quantification of damages, which is a valuable asset in his legal practice.

Since 2023, Yuri has been listed as a "Future Leader" in Arbitration by Who's Who Legal and achieved the "Most Highly Regarded" recognition in 2024.

He is admitted to practice in Paris, Washington DC, and Florida. He is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.
