Duncan HOLLAND

Duncan was the Legal & Commercial Director at Cairn Energy PLC (subsequently Capricorn Energy) until 2023, having originally joined the company in 2005.

He was responsible for the management of Cairn’s arbitration claim against the Republic of India under the UK-India Bilateral Investment Treaty, pursuant to which the panel unanimously awarded Cairn US$1.2bn in damages, plus interest and costs in late 2020. Duncan also managed the subsequent enforcement strategy, which resulted in a number of high profile steps being taken in Paris and New York. Legislation was subsequently passed in India in mid-2021 which resulted in a payment to Cairn in excess of US$1bn.

Duncan is currently the Corporate development Director at CRC Evans, based in Edinburgh.
