Arbitrator

Professor Janet Walker, CM, BA, MA, JD, DPhil (Oxon), Chartered Arbitrator is an independent arbitrator at Toronto Arbitration Chambers, Atkin Chambers in London, and Sydney Arbitration Chambers. For more than 20 years, she has served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and chair in ad hoc arbitrations and arbitrations administered by the ICC, ICDR, DIAC, HKIAC, KCAB, LCIA, PCA and SIAC in a variety of seats.

Janet is co-chair of CanArbWeek, an executive editor of the Canadian Journal of Commercial Arbitration and co-author of Commercial Arbitration in Australia (3d ed). She is a member of the boards of the CIArb Canada Branch, NYIAC, ITA, and the NYIAC Global Advisory Board, and the International Construction Law Association; and she is a member of the ICC Commission, the ICC Institute and past chair of the ICC Canada Arbitration Committee.

Janet is a Distinguished Research Professor (past Associate Dean) at Osgoode Hall Law School, a member of the Ontario Bar, and a licensed legal consultant of the New York State Bar. She authors Canada’s main text on the conflict of laws, cited in more than 400 judgments. Janet is a member of the Order of Canada.
